Religions… Good or Bad?

April 8th, 2007 by sidyz

How many "holy" wars were fought since ancient civilization initiated by religious leaders with collaboration with the rival governments? How idiotic suicidal missions could be sent to kill and be killed with mere promise of "rewards" in their next lives. Have these suicide murderers ever thought how they could receive their "rewards" of 72 virgins when their bodies were already blown into pieces?

How many families disputed over some members of family converting to another religion? When come to marriage, communal festivals, celebrations, traditional foods, funeral rites it’s all upset down when ones converted to certain faith while other family members retain their faiths

Why rulers who of certain religions must forced their subjects to believe in the same faith? If not they imposed higher taxes for the infidels. Crusade Campaigns, Roman/ Spanish Inquisitions and sea explorations with missionary were results of innocent lives killed in the names of Religion.

Why religion can’t put an end to wars, yet every religions are claiming they are peace-loving, compassion, tolerant? Have ancient oriental faiths gone to wars with their neighbours over religion belief?

Not India, nor China or any Asian countries except the Middle East and Europe had history of religious atrocity. The God-Believers religions are the greatest culprits for starting ‘holy’ wars and because they insisted theirs are the right path and only truth way.

If there is religion(s) that could live up to the name of being Peaceful and Tolerance, could only be non-theism faiths. Only philosophical faiths that discourage "BLIND FAITH" can live to this name… And no blood had shed in their names and their ancient masters and founders.

There is only one "thing" to fear, that is ourselves not the "being"! We are the creator of our Karma (Kamma) - actions /deeds. We are master of our destiny, which influence by our past kamma, and not been born a "sinner". No one bear another sins, but our own deeds in the past, present and future.

Why They Move Schools Here, There and Everywhere?

December 6th, 2006 by sidyz

Where are your alma mater? If they had moved to another corner of Singapore, you are lucky, many were disappeared… if not merged or changed names.

Swiss Cottage Pri /Sec School are no longer at Swiss Cottage Estate/ Dunearn Road but in Bt Batok for the Sec Sch. So as Anderson Pri/ Sec School no longer at Anderson Road but in Ang Mo Kio.

In Whitley Road you don’t find Whitley Sec School but S’pore Chinese Girl Sch and yet Whitley Sec Sch is in Toa Payoh?

Dunearn Secondary (DSTS and DSS) schools are not at Dunearn Road / Hillcrest Road, one shifted to Bukit Batok and my alma matar (Duntech aka DSTS) changed her name to Greenridge Sec School and relocate to Bt Panjang.

Where Duchess Primary School? Not in Duchess Road anymore, but ceased existence so as Dunearn Intergrated Primary School. Farrer Primary School at Farrer Road? Nope, it’s history so as many other schools…

Why were schools moved out and replaced with anothers? Such Hillcrest Road’s schools ( DSTS and DSS) were placed by NJC and Raffles’ Girl Pri Sch.Nanyang Girl High was from King Road relocated to old site of NJC and itself took over my alma mater (DSTS) site.

We used to "look down" on NJC, but DSTS had to moved out and renamed b’cos there were 2 secondary schools with the name "Dunearn". More story are found on this site: www.dunearntechnical.com.

Guess there are little left for us to reminisce if authority keeps moving schools here, there and everywhere. By relocating another unrelated schools to other old schools’ sites is uncalled for especially the old schools were very much related to the road and estate names. Why don’t they let the old schools return back to their original sites?

Look at Raffles Institution, how many times it needed to move? Guess late ex-president Wee Kim Wee, MM-LKY, Tommy Tan, SM-GCT and some of their children would not able to find the spot he used to piss. Could be from where I’m working now (Raffles City) to Ganges Rd and now Bishan.

For me, I remembered it now the present principal office of NJC.
